Sara is a licensed veterinary technician who has been working in ophthalmology for the past 9 years. She attended Northeastern University where she studied Biology before receiving her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Massachusetts in 2005.
Prior to working with Dr. Jurk, Sara worked in general medicine, followed by emergency veterinary medicine, and then eventually ophthalmology where she enjoys making a real difference in patient comfort and quality of life. She takes particular interest in challenging surgery cases, and enjoys developing tailored anesthesia plans, as well as monitoring more complicated procedures for patients requiring them.
A life-long lover of animals, Sara has several of her own, including her geriatric Appaloosa, Lacey, a very spoiled Great Dane named Veruca, a boa constrictor Lucy, Mikey the gecko, Starla the cat, and an energetic fifth-grader named Jackson. When not taking care of that menagerie, she loves reading, the beach, and the Red Sox.
